Songwriting credit for Shakin' The Cage album
[edit]What evidence is there that Mick "co-wrote every song" on The Zoo's Shakin' The Cage album? The credits on the album cover show that 8 of the songs were written solely by Billy Thorpe, one co-written by Billy Thorpe and Billy Burnette and one co-written by Billy Thorpe and Delaney Bramlett.
I removed the statement that Mick "co-wrote every song" but my edit was reverted. What is the reference that supports the claim Mick really co-wrote every song? Neb-Maat-Re (talk) 02:03, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Untitled
[edit]I recently found out that Mick Fleetwood (senior) stayed in our house, while he was in the RAF. If Mick Fleetwood was born in 1942 (and not 1947 as some websites say), Mick Fleetwood (the main man) could well have been conceived in my house.
How could I possibly find out?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.54.202.250 (talk) 19:53, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
Response: If you search http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl for births Surname: Fleetwood, First name(s): Michael between 1940 and 1950, you will find the birth of Fleetwood, Michaek J K with mother's maiden name Brereton was officially recorded in Redruth in 1947. There is no Michael Fleetwood born in 1942 and the one born in 1943 has the mother's name recorded as Fleetwood so probably illegitimate. Mick's older sister Susan wasn't born until 1944. And Mick's father's name was John, not Mick (senior). Neb-Maat-Re (talk) 01:24, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]It should be clear by looking at the article why an NPOV tag is appropriate, but apparently not.
"These by no means unique personal failings notwithstanding, Fleetwood remains one of the most flamboyant and beloved secondary figures in the world of blues-rock."
"Fleetwood drums in a sparse, solid style that has changed little since his earliest recordings in 1967 with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. The snakey, sensuous rhythms he forged with Mac bassist John McVie have provided the common stylistic thread throughout the band's many line up changes and stylistic nuances."
"The slender, nearly seven foot Fleetwood has a striking, Rasputin-like appearance which has led to a secondary career as a TV and film actor..."
Don't remove NPOV tags without discussing it on talk, or making the changes. Ckessler 23:30, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- I removed the NPOV tag because it said that there would be discussion on the Talk page and there wasn't. Rather than chastise me I think you should look at your own actions. You shouldn't put up NPOV tags without specifying why you are putting them up. NO reason = No NPOV tag in my book. Dabbler 00:41, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
This article needs a lot of work, which I should get round to doing soon. There is clearly a problem with NPOV here, and it should be straightforward enough to clear it up while adding a reasonable resumé of Fleetwood's career, plus a discography etc. There's no point arguing about anything - I'm surprised no-one's had a go at it yet. Height
[edit]The article refers to him as "the slender, nearly seven foot Fleetwood". However, a Google search finds several sites (http://members.shaw.ca/harbord/heights.html, http://www.growtall.com/height-of-tall-people.htm, and his biography on IMDB.com) that give his height as 6'5" - certainly tall, but definitely not "nearly seven feet". Is there any verifiable source for the "nearly seven foot" claim? Dsreyn 13:31, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Date of Birth
[edit]I dont know where on Earth 1942 came from, but the vast majority of Fleetwood Mac fans and biographers state the year of Fleetwood's birth as 1947. I read somewhere that he was 15 when he first heard The Beatles, so that would seem to corroborate this information. I suggest some better research. And sorry to the person who thinks he may have been conceived in your house!
Makeety Makondo
- Yes, 1947 is the date stated in Mick Fleetwood's autobiography "My life and adventures in Fleetwood Mac". I trust that Mr Fleetwood knows his date of birth--granted it's possible that he made himself 5 years younger (as some have put him down for 1942); however, further details in his autobiography suggest that 1947 is correct, such as the fact that his father was in the RAF during the war, and that he moved to London in 1963 when he was 16.Malljaja 20:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I live in Redruth, where Fleetwood was born, and I have seen his birth certificate - there was a situation a couple of years ago where Fleetwood had lost his certificate and it illegally came up for auction. It was returned to him, but I was able to check it with the one in the records office - it was authentic - and it stated 1947. Bretonbanquet 21:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- You can also confirm the correct date of 1947 at: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl Neb-Maat-Re (talk) 01:27, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Secondary career as a TV and film actor
[edit]Main page mentions appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation for a single episode. I thought he had a re-occuring role an Deana Trio's mothers/ porter/butler - only seen with the mother in the transport room for arrival and departure. He never had any speaking lines. Wfoj2 01:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
That role was played by Carel Struycken: http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Carel_Struycken Neb-Maat-Re (talk) 01:39, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Fleetwoods bar in Alexandria, Virginia, USA
[edit]Didn't Mick own a bar in Alexandria during the late 1990's? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SolarAngel (talk • contribs) 09:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. I went there once. Nice place, but expensive. The irony inherent in the idea of rich DC types spending $60-$100 / night to hear "the blues" wasn't lost on me. Acroyear (talk) 03:49, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
Daughter's July 2008 accident
[edit]I have written a small section about his daughter's near-drowning as there were articles written about it. I don't have a source, as I don't think the Celebrity Baby Blog counts, but if anyone can find one, I guess it should be added! Sky83 (talk) 16:42, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it'll need a credible source for that. Besides that, I'm not sure that this incident is notable enough for inclusion in this entry. I would vote for removal, unless a good case for notability is made. Malljaja (talk) 17:04, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's notable, it's been widely talked of because of the father's fame, it's a family event etc, I don't think there's really a case for removal IMO. If there is a 'vote' taken, I would strongly vote for inclusion. And there are sources that are saying it WAS at the family home and some that say it WASN'T, so this may need to be changed at some point as well, as someone changed my original posting. Sky83 (talk) 19:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- It's certainly notable now. But in the future that may change. Just because it qualifies for inclusion today doesn't mean that it will not fade into minor ephemera later. Proxy User (talk) 11:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have removed the section. Every family has had bad things happen and the notability of the girl's father does not by itself make the situation notable. Even if it had been, it is a relatively minor thing whose notability is dependent only in it being current news. As such, I am taking it out as that it fails WP:NTEMP. [edit]he often was in salisbury, during the 80s he lived outside amesbury, common knowledge for us locals, often seen in salisbury and amesbury, every fortnight, mick is a lovely man very nice to the locals, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.91.189 (talk) 23:29, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- His sister Susan Fleetwood died in Salisbury in 1995, so was there a family connection to the area? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.53.157.164 (talk) 13:17, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
Expansion
[edit]The ongoing expansion is great, but there are a few issues I have with some of the facts, event order and wording. I don't want to just steam in and change things if the various sections are still unfinished, so maybe we can discuss them here, or I can do it later. They're mainly concerned with the late 1960s era and stuff like Spencer refusing to get on a plane (never happened). Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:54, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Happy to discuss, I don't own the article. I didn't know about the event myself with Spencer, but the sources I've found thus far seem to detail it briefly. Something about him thinking about the apocalypse? If events took place different, please grab me a source and I'll change it. Happy for you to jump in. I'm no expert on the subject. :-) --S.G.(GH) ping! 14:50, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- I can see the variation on the Spencer article. Is there a page number for the cite from Fleetwood's book? I can change it and cite it if you can get me one. S.G.(GH) ping! 14:51, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have that book with me, unfortunately, but both the Clark and Celmins interviews listed in the references tell the same story in some detail. The important point is that Spencer flew to LA with the band but disappeared before the gig and joined a cult, bam, just like that. Once they found him, Fleetwood and Davis (band manager) did try to change his mind but with no luck. A couple of other things are that Christine Perfect didn't officially join until 1970 (after Kiln House), and that the huge success of Then Play On and all the singles should probably be mentioned. I'm happy to fix those if you like, but I know sometimes it's annoying when you're working on something over a period of time and other people keep sticking their oar in. Just wanted to check ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

- It's fine mate. I love Fleetwood Mac but I'm still learning about their history. Edit away! We can get it bumped up a rating or two by working together. S.G.(GH) ping! 15:29, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Cool. There's a lot of history to learn! Never a dull moment in that band. I've done a few bits and pieces, and yes, I'm sure we can get it looking a whole lot better than it has been up until rceently! Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:13, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Father's Name
[edit]According to the article on Susan Fleetwood, their father was John Joseph Kells Fleetwood. This article states he was Mike Fleetwood. Can anyone confirm which is correct ? RGCorris (talk) 16:33, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah, it's a shame my Grandmother isn't still alive, she would have known this. Here's a much told family tale... Many years ago Grandmother is chatting with a close friend. They are bemoaning the state of the world and the youth of today. "Indeed", says grandmother's friend, "My grandson is in London playing with a band, he needs to get a proper job." The little chaps name was Michael Fleetwood. - Dave Crosby (talk) 17:20, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Percussion
[edit]I don't see why this shouldn't be listed in the infobox. He's played percussion on almost all Fleetwood Mac and solo recordings. Dobbyelf62 (talk) 01:50, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
Cornish?
[edit]Surely Mick Fleetwood is Cornish? See https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cornish-granted-minority-status-within-the-uk84.68.156.149 (talk) 21:02, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- I've never seen anything where he's said he considers himself Cornish. He was only born there because his father was serving in the area, and I don't think they stayed long. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:04, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Surprised by that. Not least because he has no Cornish family, but I guess Mick is a bit like that. Something could be added to reflect his feeling, but if it were put in the lead sentence, I doubt it would stay long. That's Wikipedia for you. Bretonbanquet (talk) 14:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
